Mr. Michael C. Forde is the Founder of VCACA, Inc.  Mr. Forde came to Virginia on a military assignment to Langley Air Force Base in 1993.   After honorably serving over 28 years of military service, he retired from active duty in 2003 at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, and remained in the Hampton Roads area.

In 2005, he felt the need to start a charitable corporation dedicated to providing cross cultural understanding, acceptance and interaction among people of diverse nationalities and demographics through the exhibition of his Caribbean culture and heritage, as well as providing services to some of the most vulnerable members in our communities.

In 2006, Mr. Forde gathered a diverse group representing several Caribbean islands to present the first Caribbean Festival “CaribFest” in Norfolk, Virginia. This annual festival and Caribbean-style parade delightfully expands awareness of Caribbean culture and brings significant economic benefits to local merchants.

Today, the events surrounding CaribFest have become a mainstay on the calendars of West Indians and others from all over the country.  Anyone who has ever attended this celebration knows that CaribFest is an exuberant experience.

The event brings an energy that draws thousands of people to the Norfolk area during the weekend celebrations in August.
