Abbey Kyat
Abbey Kyat AKA 'Islan’ Chick' began her career in 1993 chanting along with a local Deejay named Sli (Sellaci) of Sli Productions. Often emulating artists such as Shelly Thunder, Patra, Sister Carol, Salt and Pepa and Queen Latifah, the US Virgin Island-born Abbey's commanding voice caught the ear of local Producer Seko Varner of the Virginia-based Seko Sound System. She joined the group in 1993 and began doing shows and mixed tapes. Abbey is owner of Islan’ Chick Entertainment who produces all of the Cocoanut Lady plays and vignettes as well as Chef Dasheen and others. Abbey describes her style as 'a Soca/Hip Hop/Reggae with a touch of, humorous, and conscious. Abbey just shot a crazy video for her single Me (Mi) Nah Know featuring Cocoanut Lady.

BAYLISIA EWING
Singer, Songwriter, Broadcaster, Poet, Commercial Actress, Dancer, Entertainer, such an archive at her disposal. Baylisia Ewing is now creating a buzz as she humbly yet boldly ventures where her true passion leads, 'The Soca and Dancehall Arena''. Born in Scarborough Tobago Baylisia's early years were spent exploring performing arts. At Scarborough Junior Secondary she sang Calypso and folk. She was a member of the Choir where she traveled and performed throughout the Caribbean. Baylisia later moved to Trinidad where she joined the Humming Bird Dance Company and performed before delegates such as South African Arch Bishop the honorable Bishop Desmond TuTu and other delegates. She attended the Tranquility High School in St. James, Trinidad Where she also sang Calypso. Though Baylisia veered into various directions professionally over the years her love for music, all genres has always brought her back to her humble beginnings as a performer. With Soca being a part of Baylisia's culture it's only natural for her to work relentlessly as an ambassador for Caribbean culture reaching and teaching through drama, dance and music so Baylisia went on to birth two performing Arts studios one in Mount Vernon New York the other in Brooklyn New York. Baylisia now resides in Norfolk, VA where she works day and night in the studio creating fresh soca music. As a professional dancer, songwriter and performer Baylisia choreographs all dances for her songs for performances on stage and in videos. Baylisia Ewing is a true example of '' fueled by passion for a purpose. Baylisia energizes and excites her audiences with fresh lyrics and movements. She is on the rise and is taking Dancehall and Soca Music to whole new level. |

BIG DEAL
Formed in the winter of 2006, Big Deal from a lot of HMI (Haitian Music Industry) personalities rate that Big Deal will be the next thing in the HMI. A Boston base band that plays "Kompa", better known as Haitian music, is the only band that many people have high hopes for, especially after the long non existence of a Haitian band in Boston for over 15 years. The main founders; Jn.Robert Baron(manager), Fritzner Antoine(Lead singer), Yves Elisacar (band leader & lead guitar), and Bob Francois(conga player) after all the obstacles they overcome, they never lost hope and still till this day pursue their dreams with many others that has the same belief as them, and joined the team also. With less than 12 performances in their resume. Big Deal has always had a packed house throughout every venue they perform, and always made sure that people danced. "Ground breaking...Off the hook!!!.....I enjoyed myself....The singer has a nice voice.....the conga player looks sexy when he sweats.....That bass player sure is groovy..." Is many comments that Big Deal have received throughout many fans, that enjoy our music. With only less than 8 months of existence, Big Deal is not only a band, but we're a family. Each musician is cool with each other. There's a bond between us that can never be replaced or broken apart. The BQE Band (Black Quorum Ent.) is one of the most exhilarating and groundbreaking bands ever to come out of the Caribbean/NYC. The BQE Band was formed in 1996 by a group of versatile, dynamic and highly creative mixture of musicians. BQE Band heralded in a new and much needed resurgence of live music and created a new wave in soca / calypso music. The Band is NYC based and consists of musicians from many different islands, each bringing their own special touch to that great sound you hear! The BQE Band has successfully completed 3 albums "At The Crossroads", "Revolution In De Moddle" and "The Real Deal". The Band has performed at West Indian Carnivals in Miami, Washington, Virginia, New Jersey, Connecticut, Canada, Atlanta, NYC, St.Kitts and Nevis just to name a few. The Band is currently working on their 4th album entitled "Heart of a Champion" set to be released on Nov 26, 2006. The Band has released a single from the upcoming album entitled "One More Time". The concept of “Crossovah” was derived from the Caribbean heritage of Christopher Grant aka CRiSS who was born in Bronx, New York and Ricardo Drue of Antigua. Chris and Ricardo crossed paths in the year 2002 as rivals. Both were striving for the same objective the pleasure of being able to inspire and entertain the public. Overtime the duo established a close friendship and became inseparable. Both men brought valuable assets to the team. Chris helped Ricardo with his dancing and his ability to perform, and Ricardo helped Chris to enhance his writing and his vocal capabilities. It was a success in the making. Even though they had their ups and downs, they also had a lot of support, and with the help of Crown Prince, NICO Star and Footwork entertainment they went on to gain a lot of local success; opening for Major artists such as TOK, Sherwin Winchester, Dawgie Slaughter, Baby Cham, Patrice Roberts, Macheal Montano, Iwer George, Burning Flames, Bryon Lee and the Dragonieers, Mr. Vegas, Tanto Metro and Devonte, Rupee, Mr. Easy Elephant man and many more. EVER-G aka Everett Streete is a Recording Artist, Songwriter and Musician. EVER-G, born in the little district of Cash-Hill, Hanover Parish, Jamaica, has been exercising his musical gift since the tender age of 4. He grew up listening to Reggae legends such as Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer and Dennis Brown. As a young man, he was also particularly fascinated and intrigued by Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions because of their intricate harmonies. Although these artists influenced him and the development of his musical style, G still managed to remain original and true to his own style of music. He was the lead vocalist for numerous groups in Jamaica which helped his development as an artist. Migrating to the U.S. he continued his musical journey. To date EVER-G has independently recorded & produced three CDs titled – WORLD PEACE, INDEPENDENCE and his most recent MISSION. The Panamanian Folkloric Group of Hampton Roads is a non-profit organization, conducting cultural programs. Since its creation in 1993, it has become an artistic display of the most authentic folkloric dances of Panama, characterized by the joy, cadence, rhythm and beat. We have consistently surpassed audience expectations with our display of colorful Panamanian authentic attire, enthusiastic dancers, exciting music, and a contagious atmosphere that stimulates a desire to learn more about Panama, its culture and its people. Integrated by resident Panamanians in Virginia, began in Newport News, Virginia in September 1993, under the direction of Ms. Audomelia Robinson, a native of the province of Darien in Panama. In the beginning, it was not far from easy. Thanks to her love and passion for the Panamanian folklore, Mrs. Robinson was managed to gather a group integrated by Panamanians, Colombians, Guatemalans and Puerto Ricans and to start the folkloric group with four pairs. |

SHURWAYNE WINCHESTER
Shurwayne Winchester is an artist who is undoubtedly blessed with a singers voice, quick wit and an ability to make pictures with his music. He started shining in the spotlight in 1986 at the age of 12 and has never stopped since. He entered the soca monarch stakes in 1999. His performances garnered rave reviews and was deemed "Most Dynamic" by the press. Shurwayne became the heartthrob of soca, both locally and internationally among West Indian markets. In 2005, he took home the road march title with his hit single Dead or Alive. In 2006 he followed up by taking home both the groovy and power monarch titles for the singles Don't Stop and Can't Wait. He did this, all backed by the most

URBAN ARTS ENSEMBLE
Since 1994 the Urban Arts Center (UAC) has sunk its roots and spread its branches throughout Hampton Roads with participants that range in age from six to sixty-six and older. The award winning Urban Arts Ensemble has garnered praise from throughout the region and beyond. UAC has had more than 1000 youth come through its programs with students going on to become professional musicians, music teachers, and strong citizens.
