Are you still accepting applications to participate in the parade?
Yes. The application deadline is April 30. But we would be happy to take your name and contact information for next year.
What is the parade route?
The ~1.5-mile parade route begins at Harbor Park Parking Lot ‘F’ on Water St. It travels along Waterside Dr. and turns right onto Lane, left onto Main Street to Granby Street, heading North. It then turns onto College Street going west, turns onto Boush Street, heading south, back onto Waterside Dr. and finishes back onto Water Street at parking Lot ‘F’ at Harbor Park.
What time should I arrive Downtown?
We recommend you arrive as early as possible, heavy congestion starts at 10am.
Is there any entertainment before the parade? Yes, at Town Point Park, the festival venue. There are also plenty of food vendors, arts & crafts, children’s play area, and much more!
What is the best exit to take from I-264W
We recommend that you avoid Waterside Drive after 10am. Instead, take City Hall Avenue Exit 10 or Brambleton Avenue Exit 11.
Will there be porta-johns along the parade route?
No, only at the staging area and at Town Point Park.
What is the best garage to park in?
There isn’t a “best” garage we can recommend. It all depends on where you want to sit on the parade route and what direction you are entering downtown from. Go to the city’s website for a list of garages and locations to familiarize yourself.
How much will parking cost?
All City garages are collect on entry. Cash ONLY. $2 until 5pm. After 5pm – $5 There are 14 garage options in downtown Norfolk. You can find them all on the city’s website here. Dominion Tower garage is $5 collect on entry from 3pm-6pm
What time will the streets close and re-open?
Water Street in the Harbor Park area will close at 8am on 8/20. A rolling closure of streets on or adjacent to the parade route will begin about 10am.
